Parents of ex-Evaly chairperson want to run the company

E-commerce platform Evaly's former chairperson Shamima Narsin's parents today informed the High Court that they were interested to take over the company's responsibility for its revival. They informed their desire while virtually appearing before the bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar during the hearing of a petition over this issue.

After hearing their statements, the court asked them to place their plans regarding Evaly through an affidavit on February 15. Nasrin's father Rafiqul Alam Talukder, mother Farida Talukder, and the company's former executive director Ehsan Sarwar Chowdhury got connected with the virtual proceedings of the bench today and said they want to buy the shares,

owned by the company's former managing director Mohammad Russel and Narsin. They requested the HC to include them in the board of directors appointed by it (HC) for running the company, as Russel and Nasrin are now in jail. The HC recently asked them to show causes in two weeks as to why their bank accounts should not be frozen, Sayed Mahsib Hossain,

a lawyer moving a petition before the HC for winding up of the company, told The Daily Star. Earlier on September 22 last year, the HC issued an injunction order restraining Evaly, which allegedly has liabilities of more than Tk 1,000 crore, from selling and transferring its assets until further order.
